Career midcarder Mark Henry had become WWE’s top heel by 2011. The 'Hall of Pain' transformed him from an also-ran powerhouse to the most dominant, ruthless monster in the company, and it started at Money In The Bank, when Henry destroyed Big Show’s leg following a singles victory. Kane, Vladimir Kozlov, and The Great Khali soon met the same fate, and by September, Henry defeated Randy Orton to become World Heavyweight Champion for the first time in his career.

He rekindled his rivalry with Show in October, and the two met at Vengeance. While the match itself was nothing to write home about, it’s memorable for a repeat of the Lesnar/Show Superplex spot eight years prior. This time it was Mark on the attack, and when the ring collapsed, the bout was ruled a no contest.

The feud continued, and Henry’s aura was gradually chipped away as WWE forced him to play second fiddle to Show, who eventually defeated him for the title in December. Vengeance really put him over the top as a character, however, and the spot itself was considerably more impressive than the original, with the ring almost completely imploding, and both wrestlers selling it like death.
