10 Wrestlers Who Made Their WWE Debut In Marquee Matches
1. Dominik Mysterio - SummerSlam 2020
The most recent matchup is the first in-ring bout for Dominik Mysterio, son of the legendary Rey Mysterio. Facing off against Rollins at SummerSlam was something many people didn't expect to be the second generation superstar's debut, as there was no evidence he could wrestle a quality match.
Some things did display how green he was in the ring. A lot of his offence was weak, and overall he never gave the impression that he was going to win. But as this was his first ever match it wasn't too surprising, and ultimately he put on a very good performance. He clearly will become an outstanding professional wrestler one day.
Rollins also pulled in some great character work with consistent application of canon wrestling continuity. Referencing Eddie Guerrero and the career past of Rey himself made it feel as though a true story was being told as opposed to a simple matchup.
It was a strong debut, and very few stars get the chance to have such a high profile spot for their first-ever wrestling match. Let's hope that he proves down the line that he earned it and it wasn't only nepotism that brought him to the squared circle.
