10 Wrestlers Who Made Their WWE Debut In Marquee Matches
8. Tazz - Royal Rumble 2000
Tazz jumped to WWE in the year 2000 a whole three years before the company would purchase the assets to ECW. Although his run with the then WWF was tumultuous, there is no denying that this debut was a big deal.
The crowd were incredibly hot for Tazz as he walked out into Madison Square Garden to face off against Kurt Angle. They firmly wanted to see the Brooklyn born star conquer the Olympic Hero's undefeated streak and thankfully that's what they got.
His appearance in WWE was crucial for so many reasons, most notably being that the former ECW star brought intensity to his in-ring work. He was a suplex specialist who made the move and its variations his signature years before Brock Lesnar would popularise it and unlike Angle's he was able to make them feel brutal.
The Royal Rumble is one of the most important dates in WWE's calendar and this shows how much faith they had in the performer by letting him open the event. It was all warranted, and although his in-ring career ended very soon after, his legacy in wrestling was cemented.
This debut still ranks among the biggest highlights within the career of the Tazmaniac.
