10 Wrestlers Who Made Their WWE Debut In Marquee Matches
4. The Undertaker - Survivor Series 1990
Mark Calaway was by no means making his first arrival on the wrestling scene when appearing at this event in 1990. But in hindsight this feels like his real debut, as it was the first time he appeared as The Deadman. His career in wrestling would be forever altered after this night.
The debut of The Undertaker was compelling. After being introduced as Ted DiBiase's mystery partner there was shock and awe amongst the crowd at the sight of him. This was captured perfectly in the commentary booth by Roddy Piper and Gorilla Monsoon selling him as this intimidating figure.
It is impressive how similar the character is nowadays to how he was in his first-ever appearance. Calaway is a master of the wrestling business, and his longevity in this role exemplifies that.
Whilst we will never know if WWE planned for this gimmick to be a long-lasting presence, when we think back on the impact of this character, it is highly appropriate that he would make his debut at such a large scale event.
Another legend of the business made his debut on this very same night. Sadly the Gobbledy Gooker's legacy is rather more infamous than the Phenom's.
