10 Wrestlers Who Made Their WWE Debut In Marquee Matches

3. Sting - WrestleMania 31

Wrestling is full of icons. The nature of the spectacle rests on people being able to feel larger than life. One such performer was Sting.

A compelling part of Steve Borden's career is that he didn't fall into the monopoly right away. Understanding that his character took precedence over what likely would have been a generous paycheque, Borden avoided making his WWE debut for decades. But eventually, it had to happen, and there was no way it wasn't going to be a marquee match.

Although most were hoping to see Sting face The Undertaker in a dream match fans had wanted for years, he was put in a programme with Triple H. This was a decent alternative as The Game is an incredibly decorated star and to compete with the heir to the company at WrestleMania is a great way to debut. It may have been a consolation prize for many fans but it had the potential to be a good start for the former WCW star.

Sadly, this event was let down by a lack of valid motivation for the feud, some cringe-worthy entrance decisions and the baffling choice to have the debuting superstar lose.

There are so many WWE moments we wish could have been better. This one has to stand at the upper end of that scale.
