Shoutout to every single wrestling writer who spent the early parts of Chris Benoit's career penning literal scores on the subtle-yet-important comparisons between him and Dynamite Kid, only to have Benoit himself sum the whole thing up better himself in 2012.

Partially conducting his own interview with his childhood idol on Crippler Radio, Benoit revealed that he first met Dynamite at age of just 12 and had watched virtually every single minute of his in Stampede Wrestling. From there he began to hone his own in-ring style around Kid and even, to that day in WWE, was trying to base himself on a man he still felt awestruck watching.

Dynamite Kid, for his part in all this, claimed he recalled meeting the young Benoit and being told that "he wanted to be a wrestler like me". He'd then studied his protege's burgeoning career and drawn comparisons between his own exploits and Benoit's early feuds; specifically their Tiger Mask and Jushin Liger rivalries respectively.
