10 Wrestlers Who Must Be Included In WWE Mae Young Classic 2

When Steffanie Newell (then Nixon Newell) was signed to a WWE contract last April, it was essentially confirmed that she would be part of the first Mae Young Classic. Unfortunately those plans changed when she went down with a torn ACL before the tournament commenced.

After making her debut in 2013, Nixon became one of the standouts on the British wrestling circuit. Her time spent with promotions such as ATTACK! Pro Wrestling and Fight Club: PRO (where she was their first female) allowed her to get her name known around the world. This led to international tours with America's SHIMMER Women Athletes and Japan's World Wonder Ring Stardom promotions, while also becoming the inaugural Women's Champion in WhatCulture Pro Wrestling after beating Bea Priestley in September 2016.

It came as no real surprise when Newell signed on the dotted line for WWE. After the company dropped the announcement of the first Mae Young Classic during WrestleMania 33 weekend, there was a high demand for Nixon to be one of the 32 entrants.

Considering she has now recovered from her injury and has debuted on NXT live events, it's a case of when and not if she gets announced as a 2018 participant.
