10 Wrestlers Who Must Return To Impact Wrestling

2. Maria

Maria Kanellis

From a pure in-ring ability standpoint, Maria may have been the weakest member on the Impact roster next to Mahabali Shera. But from a pure character standpoint, she's been one of the best in the promotion since her debut.

What makes her departure such a big loss is the sheer amount of time devoted to her character and her storyline with Allie. For most of 2016, the biggest angle in the Knockouts Division was the slow burn for Maria vs. Allie. Surprisingly, it was one of the best written angles the company has ever conceived. Besides a few clunky segments along the way, fans genuinely seemed interested in seeing the two finally fight.

While there has been a lot of turmoil behind the scenes over the past few months in TNA, it's still pretty mind-boggling to think management didn't have Maria locked into a deal before booking the wedding episode...but, such is life in Impact.

Hopefully Maria (and her husband) return to the company soon, because there's a big story that needs some closure, and plenty of other angles for her to be involved with in the future.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
