10 Wrestlers Who No Longer Work For AEW
3. Kylie Rae
“Smiley” Kylie Rae looked set to be a face of the AEW women’s division after a match at the original Double or Nothing featuring Nyla Rose, Britt Baker and Awesome Kong. She was also part of an awful skit with The Librarians, Leva Bates and Peter Avalon.
This teed up a match with Bates at Fyter Fest but Rae was replaced at the last minute by Allie. Tony Khan later announced Rae had requested her release, describing the split as “very amicable”. The details were kept private but Rae later confirmed, “nobody made me leave.”
Months later she made a surprise appearance at Impact’s Bound For Glory 2019 and signed a long-term deal with the promotion. However, a year later she was once again replaced in a scheduled PPV match and once again it signalled her decision to step away from a promotion. Rae announced her retirement from wrestling two weeks later, explaining that she was “unwell.” She has had troubles with both alcohol and marijuana use.
Kylie has since resurfaced in the NWA with Impact’s blessing. Hopefully she’ll enjoy continued success in the promotion, but of course her health is the most important thing. In January she celebrated 90 days sobriety. We wish her continued success in her recovery.
