10 Wrestlers Who Probably Had A Death Wish

8. AJ Styles

The man who inspired this very feature, AJ Styles is another in the long line of smaller wrestlers who have made frequent crazy bumps their standard. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer fame said that AJ Styles wrestled the main event of WWE Extreme Rules 2016 against Roman Reigns as if he had a death wish, and as dramatic as the statement may initially seem it isn't too far from the truth.

The 20+ minute match between the two saw Styles take painful bump after painful bump that makes anyone who claims he lost to 'just one spear' foolish for not actually watching the match. Styles went through tables and hit aprons with the reckless abandon of a man who had either lost all feeling in his body or didn't care for it being there in the first place.

As a man coming into the company at 38 years-old after a career-making run in TNA, AJ Styles has a whole host of things to prove to those in positions of power. If bumping like a maniac is the way to grab their attention, then so be it.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
