10 Wrestlers Who Probably Won't Return Until 2021

2020 has been one of the most surreal years in human history, and that's without even touching upon the wacky world of professional wrestling.

Yet, there's no escaping the fact that the current global health crisis has completely altered the wrestling industry over the last few months, with booking plans suddenly adapted at the last minute and companies now being forced to take extra care when it comes to making sure their performers and staff are safe and healthy.

Not every star has continued with business as usual, however, and some have sat out large portions of the crowd-less era in order to protect their families. Others have been forced onto the sidelines by injury and the odd one or two have perhaps just been kept away from this surreal environment so they can make a grand return once actual live fans are re-introduced to arenas.

Whatever the reason, it's looking ever more likely that these following ten performers won't be spotted wrestling on television for the remainder of this insane calendar year.

WWE were quickly forced to think on their feet when Roman Reigns suddenly decided he didn't want to be a part of this year's WrestleMania. The number one contender to Goldberg's Universal Championship felt he needed to protect his family - which had just welcomed two twin baby boys to the unit - so he gave up his spot to Braun Strowman and hasn't been seen on SmackDown since.

Recently, Reigns shot down the rumours that he was absent from television due to being immunocompromised from his battles with leukaemia and even stated that he hoped to return to the ring soon.

However, you have to imagine that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon will want to hold off on Roman's epic return until he has a live crowd to react to his highly anticipated re-emergence. Is it looking like the world will be in a position to allow thousands of barking 'Big Dog' fanatics into a venue before the end of the year? Not exactly.

So, it's safe to assume that the former WWE Champion will probably turn up at an event like the Royal Rumble in 2021 - if it actually takes place in front of a crowd - as a surprise entrant... and he'll no doubt win the bloody thing, too.
