10 Wrestlers Who Probably Won't Return Until 2021
6. Edge
What a year 2020 has been for the 'Rated 'R' Superstar.
In less than five months, Edge has returned from a career-ending injury at the Royal Rumble, fought old pal/rival Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match at WrestleMania 36 and was one half of 'THE GREATEST WRESTLING MATCH EVER' at Backlash. What a ride.
Unfortunately, the wheels suddenly came off this feel good story shortly after the better-than-it-had-any-right-to-be throwback rematch between Orton and Edge. Tearing his tricep after taking a second RKO during the bout, the WWE Hall of Famer was quickly ruled out of action for up to eight months.
At a glance, this may seem like a wretched piece of luck for a star who has only just returned to the ring after so long away, but it could actually turn into a blessing in disguise for the former World Champion. If Orton somehow manages to wrestle the WWE Championship away from Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam, we could see Edge make a triumphant return in early 2021 and challenge 'The Viper' for his belt at the Royal Rumble or perhaps even WrestleMania 37 in front of an excited crowd.
Like so many other moments we've already seen on WWE television during this surreal current period, Edge's first singles match in nearly a decade felt wasted in a soulless Performance Center. So, here's hoping his next appearance comes in front of a passionate authentic live audience.
