10 Wrestlers Who Refused To Give Fans What They Came For

9. Cody Rhodes

A few things were certain when AEW launched. Firstly, Chris Jericho would be a focal point for the promotion. Secondly, the company would give fresh talent a platform (as well as a chance to make good money outside WWE). Thirdly, Cody Rhodes would become AEW World Champion at some point.

Nearly two years in, that last one still hasn't happened.

Most fans probs thought the stip for Cody's bout with Jericho at Full Gear 2019 was the beginning of some hasty sprint towards the belt, but no - Rhodes lost that match, and thus vowed never to challenge for the top prize again. Somewhat remarkably given pro wrestling's past, he hasn't.

Cody went on to create the secondary TNT Title instead, and that has been his baby ever since. Meanwhile, any fans champing at the bit to see him win the World strap are being forced to wait... and wait... and wait... and wait.
