10 Wrestlers Who Returned Under A Mask
3. Hulk Hogan
Hulk Hogan's return to the WWE in 2002 was extremely mixed. His match with The Rock at WrestleMania X-8 received one of the best crowd reactions of any match ever. However, those same fans were less than thrilled to see him with the Undisputed Championship just one month later.
Hogan's final angle as part of this run came during a feud with Vince McMahon. McMahon wanted Hogan to sit out the rest of his contract, but The Hulkster was having none of it and competed on TV under a red, white, and blue mask as "Mr. America".
The joke here was that Mr. America was so obviously Hogan, but no one could ever prove it. He used all of Hogan's moves, catchphrases, hell, even his entrance music. But it could never be proven that it was Hogan. He even passed a lie detector test.
The angle was kind of funny as a one time joke, but it dragged out for months. Mr. America even had a Pay-Per-View match against Roddy Piper. In 2003! And you thought it was just modern WWE that relied on older stars.
Eventually Hogan would quit the company for real, so the Mr. America storyline was never fully resolved. Still, it serves as a reminder to wrestlers everywhere that, if you want to fool Vince McMahon, all you have to do is wear a unconvincing mask.
