10 Wrestlers Who Should Have Been WWE Heavyweight Champion

1. Owen Hart

Make no mistake about it, Owen Hart would have been WWE Heavyweight Champion. In fact, he would have been a multiple-time champion and would have gone down as one of the greatest of all time.

Being the younger brother of the man wildly considered THEE greatest of all time, Bret Hart, Owen had a hell of a shadow to climb out from under. But boy did he. In the ring, Owen was every bit the wrestler that Bret was, and proved countless times over that he could carry the company as the top guy.

Sadly, the world would never get to see it. On 23 May 1999, Owen Hart fell to his death during a stunt entrance gone wrong at a live WWE show. His death was announced by Jim Ross during the show, and the wrestling world would lose one of its greatest competitors.

The handling of WWE's death, during the incident and after was wildly insensitive, so much so that Owen's widow, Martha, has refused to let them induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame and filed multiple lawsuits against them.

Owen's legacy lives on, through his work, his family legacy and soon, in an AEW tournament in his honour.

We lost Owen Hart when he was just 34 years old. We will remember him forever.
