10 Wrestlers Who Should Have Been WWE Heavyweight Champion

7. Roddy Piper

Despite never reaching the top of the mountain, 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper is considered, quite rightly, one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.

He was a detestable heel, and his Piper's Pit chat show segments cemented him as one of the best talkers in the game. The legendary edition, where he smashed a coconut over Jimmy Snuka's head, is still revered and throughout his career, Piper was able to rile up any crowd like a man conducting an orchestra. The less said about his feud with Bad News Brown, the better, as the incredibly insensitive black face should never have been allowed to happen.

Piper saw very little in the way of WWE gold. A single run with the WWE Tag Titles and a solitary IC Title run was all the gold Piper would ever see, and it's a testament to his legacy that he is still held in such high regard. For two years running, he was tasked with entertaining Mr. T on the Grandest Stage of Them All, which shows how well thought of he was.

Piper sadly passed away in July 2015 at the age of 61 but is fondly remembered as one of the greats.
