It is one of life's greatest mysteries, that WWE Hall of Famer, Jake 'The Snake' Roberts never held a title belt during his time with the company.

But in a strange way, it's understandable, because Roberts never needed the gold to prove what a star he was. The man was a sadistic and at times, downright terrifying man, and his menace outweighed the idea of being a champion. The moment when he let his pet snake attack a trapped Randy Savage was easily the most terrifying wrestling moment this young fan had ever seen.

But Roberts was also incredibly popular. Whilst his devastating DDT finisher has been bastardised as a transitional move in the modern era, it was incredibly powerful and even drew cheers from the crowd when he did it to Hulk Hogan. Such was his popularity against Hogan despite being a heel, Vince McMahon scrapped the feud to protect Hulk-a-mania. Imagine a world where Roberts had defeated Hogan for the belt? I want to live there.

Now healthy after years of abuse and with a now-reduced role in AEW, Roberts lives on as a legend. Now, go and watch his promo at Wrestlemania VI before his match with Ted DiBiase and bask in his incredible skill.
