10 Wrestlers Who Should Hold The AEW All-Atlantic Title
4. Darby Allin
Darby Allin’s partnership with Sting has been hugely entertaining but how much has it really helped the younger man? The pair have a spotless record in tag and multi-man matches, but generally it’s the age-defying veteran who gets the most memorable moments, performing an impossible aerial or no-selling his rival’s offense.
Meanwhile, it seems as though Tony Khan is happy to have Darby eat singles losses, believing the Sting matches will keep Allin strong. That just isn’t working out for the enigmatic star. While his willingness to take crazy bumps will always be popular with live crowds, it’s undeniable Darby’s popularity has waned somewhat since his days as TNT Champion.
While Allin once seemed nailed-on as a future main event talent, an influx of new stars have made it hard to plot his route to the top. Plus, fans can tell when an act doesn’t feel like a priority, and that hurts their own ability to invest in someone.
If Tony Khan wants fans to see Darby Allin as more than a career midcarder, he needs to give fans a reason to believe. A run with the All-Atlantic Title could help Darby out like the TNT Title did earlier in his AEW career.
