10 Wrestlers Who Should Never Have Made WWE Royal Rumble's 'Final 4'

2. Brian Knobbs (1991)

If Fatu was a strange choice for a final four spot in 1994, Brian Knobbs was a frankly mind-boggling one in 1991. The Nasty Boys weren't long in the WWF by January 1991, not long enough for the crowd to give two hoots about them in truth, and the only reason one can come up with for Knobbs lasting so long in this Rumble was to stack the odds against eventual winner, Hulk Hogan.

The final three of the '91 Rumble were Hogan, Knobbs, and Earthquake, with The British Bulldog the first of the final four to be eliminated. It wasn't as if the final stages of the Rumble were short on top heels either, as among the final eliminations were Mr. Perfect, Haku, and the then-record setting Rick Martel. Knobbs garnered no reaction upon entering, and nobody cared when he was eliminated.

In fact, Knobbs was so out of place that both Gorilla Monsoon and 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper on commentary only referred to him as 'one of The Nasty Boys'. The blonde Nasty Boy was pretty much anonymous in the match, and will almost certainly be the name most people miss when attempting such a quiz on Sporcle.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
