10 Wrestlers Who Should Never Turn Face

We’ve had our five minutes of MJF as a babyface, now the world can settle into a lifetime of him performing as one of the finest heels on the planet. Those early days of AEW seem like a lifetime ago now, episodes of Dynamite where MJF was a part of Cody’s own inner circle, a close confidante and promising protege of the executive vice president.

Then MJF kicked Cody in the balls and we were off to the races. Everything about the 24-year-old upstart is unlikable. His goofy music, his snarky face, his methodical in-ring style and that damn scarf, it all comes together to create a character designed to be hated, from beginning to end. There is simply no way that MJF could or should ever work as a babyface.

In an entertainment world that grows ever more obsessed with shades of grey, such commitment to being an out and out bad guy should be applauded, albeit begrudgingly as opposed to lovingly. Too many heels fall short of the high standards of yesteryear because the lure of adulation is too strong, but not so MJF. He isn’t interested in your cheers and will do everything in his power to ensure they never come his way. Long may it continue.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
