10 Wrestlers Who Should Switch Companies
5. Andrade (WWE to AEW...again)
In the early days of the company AEW spent a lot of time and money signing wrestlers who were probably going to struggle for screen time under Vince McMahon's watch in WWE. The '...is All Elite' graphic was pushed on social media on a frequent basis. Andrade had a promising start to his career in WWE, the peak of which was being part of NXT's first five star match versus Johnny Gargano in 2018. After being sent to the main roster later that year he suffered the fate of many NXT wrestlers when the aura he had built in development didn't quite translate to Raw and Smackdown. He cut a frustrated figure when requesting his release in 2021.
Andrade El Idolo would appear in AEW later that year and would spend just under three years with Tony Khan with the highlights being a feud with Cody Rhodes and taking on The House of Black. Once again though it seemed that Andrade wanted to get back to WWE and did so when his contract expired in late 2023. He made his return to WWE as a surprise entrant in the 2024 Royal Rumble. Much was made amongst wrestling fans at the time that this would truly show how much AEW had wasted him. He would no longer be lost in the shuffle of Tony Khan's booking, Triple H would certainly have a clear vision for him.
Since then however he's been lost once more. Despite wrestling some solid matches against Carmelo Hayes over on Smackdown he's been wrapped up in the mix for WWE's Speed Championship. The much sought after rocket push has failed to present itself despite him being a steady hand to call upon when they need one.
AEW isn't as stacked in the midcard as it once was and a return back to Jacksonville would certainly allow Andrade to stretch his wings more second time around. Matches against the likes of Will Ospreay and Mike Bailey would certainly be well worth his time. and the fan's money also.
