10 Wrestlers Who Totally Wasted Their Own Potential

5. Enzo Amore

Austin Aries
WWE

Though Enzo Amore was never going to be a great wrestler, his character work and charisma were off the charts. The Road Dogg comparisons were apt. Sharper than a samurai sword on the microphone, he was as great at whipping crowds into a frenzy as a babyface as he was at making them want to see his head kicked in as a heel, helping him and Big Cass get over to a ridiculous degree as a developmental and main roster double-act.

205 Live was rebuilt in his image when Enzo became Cruiserweight Champion. This lasted only a few months. January 2018 saw him released amid sexual assault allegations that were eventually thrown out due to a lack of evidence, but there were problems with Amore before then, too. Amore's release was preceded by multiple reports on his alleged lack of popularity backstage, including one story alleging he was kicked off a tour bus by Roman Reigns. This suggests he was on the verge of costing himself his job regardless.

Enzo's wrestling career is now deader than his failed attempts at breaking into the hip-hop industry. A shame, as he could have gone down as an all-time great mouthpiece.
