Neville did get a chance, but not the one he wanted.

Reborn as a sneering heel Cruiserweight Champion, the former indy standout seemed to be in his element on 205 Live. Behind the scenes though, Neville was keenly aware that WWE weren't paying much attention to the Cruiser brand or the hard work happening right in front of them.

Things came to a head when he showed up for the 9 October 2017 Raw and was told that he'd be dropping the belt to Enzo Amore. Completely unhappy with the way things were going and realising that he might never be rewarded for his graft, Neville walked out and never returned to company TV.

His contractual disputes with WWE raged on for almost a full year before he was finally let go and able to show back up in Dragon Gate. Then, he debuted for AEW and hasn't looked back since. His messy departure from WWE has never been totally cleared up.
