10 Wrestlers Who Were Given Way Too Many Chances

1. Ed Leslie

Brutus Beefcake, The Booty Man

Ed Leslie had a couple of successful years in the business, but he seems to have mainly hung on so long because of his relationship with Hulk Hogan.

Leslie joined the WWF as Brutus Beefcake. Along with Greg Valentine, they were in the entertaining tag team The Dream Team. After that, he was a successful mid-carder when he adopted “The Barber” moniker and started cutting his opponents hair. It was a fun gimmick that is remembered fondly.

However, he was overpushed on occasion, and when Hogan left for WCW, he decided to join him,and get overpushed again. Once there, he couldn't be a barber, so it was one lousy gimmick after the next for the former Brutus. Somehow each one of them was absolutely ridiculous: Brother Bruti, The Butcher, The Man With No Name, The Booty Man, The Zodiac, and finally, The Disciple, basically a guy who stood behind Hogan in the nWo and never wrestled. It was perhaps the cushiest gig in all of wrestling in the late '90s.

Amazingly, when Hogan was gone from WCW, Leslie found his way out too. He was fine as a hairstylist, but every opportunity after that was one bad cut after the next.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
