10 Wrestlers Who Were Insulted By WWE Roles They Were Offered

1. Steve Austin

Oh hell yeah? How about oh hell no?

Everyone tends to rag on Steve Austin for ditching a 'King Of The Ring' qualifier against Brock Lesnar in June 2002. 'Stone Cold' himself would be the first to say that he shouldn't have "taken [his] ball and gone home", but his situation was totally unique. He went from being biggest star in the biz to random jobs.

That cannot have been an easy pill to swallow for Austin. He was confused at WWE's booking strategy, and didn't think that a character like his should be working lacklustre lower-card bouts against Scott Hall at WrestleMania X8 or losing without any build whatsoever to rising rookies like Brock in TV qualifying afterthoughts.

Something had to give, and it was Steve's patience. WWE's breadwinner thought recent booking was a slap to the chops, and he wasn't going to hang around and p*ss his importance up against the nearest wall. 'Stone Cold' was disenchanted and worn out by what he was being asked to do.
