From: The Emerald City Oz is one of the worst wrestling gimmicks that was recently in the spotlight again because of Kevin Nash's induction in the WWE Hall of Fame last week. That was one of his gimmicks in WCW before he was in WWE and it was awful. Nash mocked the character, saying that Dusty Rhodes came up with it and thought it was some great idea. They gave him an elaborate bright green costume with a giant cape, then a hat on his head that was ridiculously large and looked really silly. They billed Oz from The Emerald City, which is the capital city of the fictional Land of Oz. They got it from the famous Wizard of Oz story because Dusty must have loved the story and thought it would be a good wrestling character. Needless to say, the gimmick didn't work and The Emerald City is forgotten from wrestling history.
