10 Wrestlers Who Were Unmasked In The Ring
7. Psicosis
Dionicio Torres debuted in 1989 and is still making appearance in some capacity to this day. He had his greatest exposure to audiences between 1996 and 2000 where he wrestled under the name "Psicosis" in WCW and picked up the Cruiserweight Championship in the process.
Another Mexican wrestler who fell foul of the unmasking onslaught, Psicosis actually managed to lose his twice. The first time around, he lost a match in Mexico to Rey Misterio Sr - the Uncle of Rey Mysterio and the man who had initially trained him. Although he honoured the terms and handed his mask over, he kept his face hidden from the audience while doing so.
No such grace would be allowed when he was in WCW though. He faced Billy Kidman in a hair versus mask match which he lost. Taking his mask off, he showed his face to American audiences for the first time and continued to wrestle after the fact without it.
In much the same way as Juventud and Rey Mysterio, there was a lot of perceived pressure on these men to comply with the booking at the time to keep their spots, regardless of what it meant to give up their masks.
