10 Wrestlers Who Were World Champions In More Than One Company At The Same Time

3. Austin Aries

Before Kenny Omega came along, many American wrestling fans associated the phrase "Belt Collector" with The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived.

Austin Aries left the WWE in July 2017. Four months later, Aries became the top champion in Australian promotion World Series Wrestling.

And so it began.

Over the next few months, Aries picked up the Defiant World Championship and the IPW:UK World Championship in the UK, before returning to the promotion where he made his name - IMPACT Wrestling. Aries had been a world champion back in the old days of TNA and had his sights set on becoming top dog once again. Lo and behold, Aries beat Eli Drake to win his second TNA/IMPACT Championship and add a fourth world title to his collection.

Aries' time as IMPACT Champion was dogged with controversy - see "Bound for Glory 2018, Finish of" - and he left the company on poor terms. Stop us if you've heard that one before.

However, regardless of his backstage issues, Aries' time as The Belt Collector had the wrestling world gripped and took him from "that guy who got fired from WWE" to "that guy who holds all the gold".

Kenny Omega will no doubt be taking note.
