10 Wrestlers Who Will Benefit From Triple H Running WWE Creative

2. Finn Bálor

For a brief, shining moment it seemed like Finn Bálor had perfectly gamed the WWE system. Having honed his craft in Japan, heading up the iconic Bullet Club faction, he arrived in McMahon’s company at the perfect time. He joined a developmental brand suddenly happy to sign and push the internet’s work-rate darlings and supplemented his insane in-ring abilities with a child friendly, endlessly merchandisable alter ego.

He lacked the height traditionally associated with WWE top liners but made up for it by being absolutely f*cking ripped. Even Vince seemed convinced the former Prince Devitt was destined for greatness.

Sadly his career as a true WWE top-line main event talent ended the very night he won the freshly created Universal Title. The injury he sustained that night against Seth Rollins forced him to relinquish the belt the following evening and kept him off screens for months, marking his cards with Vince McMahon. When he did return it was as a perma-smiling, happy-to-be-there dweeb, seemingly content to float around in the midcard and feud endlessly with Baron Corbin.

One man who never lost faith was Triple H and after Finn was sacrificed to a debuting Fiend he returned to the black and gold brand for another spell with NXT’s top title. He may never be WWE’s tippy-top guy but he surely has more hope of being taken seriously under WWE’s new management. Particularly in a stable with two more of “Trips’” NXT graduates.
