10 Wrestlers Who Will Define AEW's Future
8. Orange Cassidy
He might not be high on Jim Cornette's Christmas list, but there is no denying Orange Cassidy is the breakout star of 2020 for AEW, and a guaranteed box office draw for the company moving forward.
The so-called 'King of Sloth Style' originally appeared as part of the 2019 Casino Battle Royale, immediately connecting with the audience with his hilarious mix of weak kicks and complete apathy. Since then, he has joined forces with Chuck Taylor and Trent as part of their babyface group, which has lead to a main event feud with former WWE Champion Chris Jericho. AEW managed to squeeze this feud for all it was worth, and although both men might have moved on, it would not be surprising to see Cassidy slotted back into matches at the top of the card in 2021.
What started as a comedy act has grown into one of the true highlights of wrestling television. Cassidy, who you may also remember as Fire Ant in Chikara, is the very essence of what AEW should be - a fresh face with a unique gimmick carving his own path in a world that is awash with the same generic wrestling stereotypes. It is acts like Orange Cassidy that will allow AEW to stand out from the WWE over the next few years.
