10 Wrestlers Who Will Define AEW's Future
7. Thunder Rosa
This spot was originally earmarked for Big Swole, but it would be an absolute travesty if we didn't include the current reigning and defending NWA Women's Champion Thunder Rosa as part of this list.
Melissa Cervantes made her professional debut in 2014, but despite only being active for less than 6 years, she has become one of the most dominant and impressive female fighters in the world. Not bad for someone who could still be considered a rookie.
After a brief stint as part of World Wonder Ring Stardom, Cervantes would make the jump to Lucha Underground, debuting the fascinating Kobra Moon character. It would be her transition into Thunder Rosa that would bring her to the attention of the world though, and after travelling around the indy circuit for a while, she was soon leading the charge as the face of the women's division in the NWA.
At 5'3" and 119 lbs, Thunder Rosa is no stranger to being underestimated. Her recent appearances as part of the AEW roster have proved she has what it takes to hang with a group as big as All Elite, making the transition from being a star on YouTube to a mainstream television star without breaking a sweat.
Who knows what will happen with her NWA run if and when the world resumes business as usual post-Covid, but one thing is for sure, Thunder Rosa must be snapped up by Tony Khan and signed to a long-term contract as soon as she is officially a free agent, assuming she's interested. She may have appeared for AEW because she is NWA Women's Champion, but it's safe to say, that the firecracker for Tijuana is good enough to have made it to the big leagues regardless.
