It seems like pure fiction at the moment, but R-Truth really did once main event a WWE pay-per-view in a one-on-one match in 2011.

These days Truth rarely shows up on TV, and when he does, it’s part of the forgettable, bad comedy act of The Golden Truth. Both guys deserve better, but neither is going to get it.

Sometimes late in a wrestlers' career, management will get behind them one last time and reward them with a nice little run. There’s no way that’s happening with Truth. He’s in great shape for a 45-year-old, but fans will never take him seriously again. He could go on a year-long winning streak and no one would buy it. He’s been cast as basically one of the dumbest wrestlers in the history of the company, as he often has no idea where he is at any given moment. He also has been known to hang out with an imaginary friend on occassion. These "quirks" have got Vince McMahon to laugh, but almost everyone else has reacted negatively to it.

It’s a bit of a wonder that Truth has remained employed all this time, because he hasn’t been over in a meaningful way in years. However, as long as the boss gets at least a few chuckles out of the act, he’ll likely stick around in some role...just not in anything of importance.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
