10 Wrestlers Who Will Never Get Another Big Push

3. T.J. Perkins

When the Cruiserweight Division returned, WWE made the odd decision of casting T.J. Perkins as the first champion. While he’s a solid in-ring performer, he’s not overly charismatic and has never been known for cutting great promos.

Still, they went all-in on making him the centerpiece of the division, but he didn’t exactly help it get off to a hot start. Predictably, his matches were good but not buzzworthy. He didn't embarrass himself, but he didn't inspire strong crowd reactions either. The Cruiserweights stumbled along, and since Perkins was the face of it, he quickly saw his push taken away. The plug was pulled before too long. He was booked to drop the belt to Brian Kendrick, and quickly shoved off to the side.

These days Perkins mainly competes in random tag matches when he's on TV, and there's no signs of him being treated as a top star in the division once more. Rich Swann, Jack Gallagher, Neville, and soon, Austin Aries, will have all jumped ahead of him in the pecking order and left the Mega Man lover far behind.

At 32-years-old, Perkins is still young enough to get a few more chances in WWE, but he’s yet to show any spark to justify getting another big opportunity.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
