That WWE has thus far somewhat dropped the ball with Rhea Ripley beggars belief, but there we are. One of the most remarkable turnarounds during the Triple H era has been the fortunes of The Judgement Day. The goth stable has gone from a misfiring throwback mess to a convincing team likely to win gold in 2023.
A huge amount of that is down to Rhea Ripley, who brings the charisma, menace, and cool to the organisation. Finally, she feels like the brutalizer of her NXT days, with unmatched power in her division.
WWE has always known how to build a monster, and at last Ripley is getting that treatment as a wrestler and a character, crushing fools and corrupting Dominic Mysterio. She’s a hot favourite to win the Royal Rumble, and rightly so - whatever goes down, she should be on for a title match come WrestleMania.
Though Ripley has won a belt at the grand show, the match and the run underwhelmed slightly and significantly respectively. Whether she faces Belair, Flair, or someone else, this should be the start of a lengthy, dominant run at the head of a villainous faction.
