Another no-brainer, to some extent, but it will be intriguing to see just how high Cody’s star can soar in 2023. By the end of the year, WWE and, to a lesser extent, Rhodes himself may be thanking that pectoral tear for what it allowed.
Essentially, Cody gets to debut all over again in WWE. After a huge reception at WrestleMania, he immediately proved his worth with three belting matches against Seth Rollins, then found himself on the shelf off the back of an injury.
That was a bummer at the time, but it has inflated the pop Rhodes will get at the Rumble tenfold or more. If he’s the most predictable Rumble winner in a while, that’s no bad thing - the people want it; the company needs it.
If he’s not at Roman Reigns level yet, he should be by springtime. He’s just about the only man in the business who can feasibly dethrone the Tribal Chief. What’s more, he’s slick and media savvy enough to be the best face of the company since John Cena.
