10 Wrestlers Whose Careers Were Destroyed By A Single Mistake
6. Monty Brown
Monty Brown had the 'it' factor that WWE looks for in a superstar. Muscular and athletic, Brown had even competed at Super Bowl XXVIII for the Buffalo Bills. Brown was trained to wrestle by Dan 'The Beast' Severn and Sabu, and despite a slow start in TNA, he would go on to make an impact in 2005.
Impressed by his ability, WWE signed Brown in 2006. Renamed ’The Alpha Male’ Marcus Cor Von, Brown made his debut on the ECW brand as part of the short-lived New Breed stable. Brown continued to build his profile in ECW including an appearance at WrestleMania 23. In June 2007 he was defeated by CM Punk in his biggest bout to date, failing to reach the finals of the ill-fated ECW title tournament. Punk’s scheduled final with Chris Benoit never happened. In the wake of the Benoit tragedy, Brown’s exit went unnoticed by many.
Brown asked management for time off due to an unspecified family crisis which was reluctantly granted. Plans to move Brown to RAW were cancelled and he was released from his contract. Asking for time off came with a very high price for Monty Brown. He would retire from wrestling after his WWE release.
