SummerSlam '92 was memorable for many reasons. Mainly ‘The British Bulldog’ Davey Boy Smith defeating his brother-in-law Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart in-front of a rabid Wembley crowd. One match that few remember the event for is Nailz against Virgil, a match that would prove the catalyst for the convict's WWE demise.

Wacholz’s Nailz ex-prisoner character was introduced as a rival for Big Boss Man. The story was that former convict Nailz had been brutalised by the Boss Man whilst in prison. He arrived in WWE in spring '92 attacking the former prison guard. The culmination of their feud came in November at Survivor Series '92 in a dreadful nightstick-on-a-pole match.

It was shortly after this event that performers received their payments for SummerSlam. Wacholz was furious that because his match with Virgil had been cut from the pay-per-view he had not received pay-per-view money for the event. He angrily confronted McMahon, where the two squared off and Walcholz choked Vince. He was fired immediately.

A bitter Wacholz then filed a wrongful termination lawsuit even claiming McMahon had sexually assaulted him. WWE filed a counterclaim and both suits were eventually dropped. Nailz never appeared in WWE again.
