10 Wrestlers Whose Careers Were Destroyed By A Single Mistake

4. D'Lo Brown

This is the saddest entry in the list as it actually destroyed two careers in very different ways. During a bout between Darren ‘Droz’ Drozdov and D’Lo Brown in October 1999, Brown dropped Drozdov whilst executing his running power-bomb.

As a result, Drozdov was paralysed from the neck down. It was a tragic accident for which Drozdov did not blame Brown. Drozdov later stated in interviews that he was wearing a loose shirt during the match and that he felt that had been partly to blame. Brown, however, took full responsibility saying that he had botched the move, stating it could have happened to "any" wrestler he had been in the ring with that night.

Brown had been one of the most promising talents of the late '90s. From 1997-99 he was a prominent part of the Nation of Domination and his career peaked when he won the European and Intercontinental championship simultaneously. After the accident, Brown confessed he wrestled “differently”, terrified of hurting another colleague.

Although D’Lo Brown would continue to wrestle in WWE and TNA, he was never the same after that night. He would usually be a jobber to the stars or feature in meaningless tag teams. A simple in-ring mistake that could happen to anyone had ruined two promising careers.
