10 Wrestlers Whose Theme Music Was More Over Than They Were
5. Gangrel
To say that Dave Heath had a storied career before winding up in the then-WWF in 1998 would be, well, a lie.
Luckily for Heath, living his real life as a, erm, vampire would come in handy. At the encouragement of Bruce Prichard and Vince Russo, who believed the WWF needed a vampire character, Heath's ten-year quest for relevance was rewarded with becoming Gangrel in 1998.
In another stroke of good fortune, Gangrel was given probably the coolest entrance in the company, and a Jim Johnston theme to rival the best of them.
Rising from a ring of flames; Gangrel's theme, inventively titled Blood, should have been the soundtrack to super stardom. Unfortunately, Heath couldn't uphold his side of the bargain as a perfromer.
With an entrance and theme fit for a featured attraction, WWE decided to quickly change gears and add a couple of sure fire stars, Edge and Christian, to the presentation to create the Brood.
It didn't take long before Edge and Christian outgrew the Brood, leaving Gangrel languishing in under card obscurity, propped up only by his legendary theme.
Released in 2001, Gangrel is fondly remembered for being a bit s**t, but having a bloody good entrance theme.
