10 Wrestlers With Surprisingly Successful Japanese Careers

6. Rob Conway

Mr. "Just Look at me" himself, Rob Conway never really amounted to much in WWE. Despite the fact he had the prototypical WWE megastar look, Conway (as a singles wrestler) never even made it to the midcard.

Debuting in 2000 and losing enhancement matches primarily on Sunday Night Heat for the better part of three, years the apex of Conway's WWE career would be as a member of La Resistance. While in La Resistance, Conway would win tag team gold three times with Sylvain Grenier. After their split, Conway would stick around in WWE for another four years with his narcissistic heel persona. The 'highlight' of which was feuding with Eugene and a bunch of WWE legends.

After being fired by Vince McMahon on RAW, Conway would become inactive and was released from his contract months later in May 2007.

After a few nondescript years back in OVW in the US, we can fast forward to 2013 where the NWA (through its working relationship with Japan) strapped a rocket ship to the 'Con-Man's' back and he held the NWA heavyweight championship for the better part of two years. While wrestling in Japan, Conway won and held singles and tag titles successfully feuding with the Killer Elite Squad, Jushin 'Thunder' Liger, Satoshi Kojima and Hiroyoshi Tenzan, trading wins with these Japanese legends on major shows.

Conway had more success in two years in Japan then he did in over a decade in North America and WWE, and I think fans of the Ruthless Aggression era would find it pretty interesting that the 'Con-Man' managed to get over so well in a high workrate environment.
