10 Wrestlers With The Most World Title Reigns

3. Triple H (14)

Triple H World Heavyweight Champion

Triple H has his detractors, but to dismiss his track record as a direct result of nepotism and favouritism does him a great disservice. His affiliation with the McMahon family has no doubt helped his cause over the years, but in his prime, Triple H was an excellent all-round performer who more than merited his spot in the main event.

Triple H is a 14-time world champion, and like Orton and Edge, all of his reigns came in WWE. His first WWE Championship came back in August 1999, and effectively kicked off a three year run at the top of the card. The Game was always WWE’s top heel throughout this spell, and whether battling with The Rock or Mick Foley, the WWE Championship was never far from his grasp.

His 14 title reigns include five spells as World Heavyweight Champion: a belt he helped establish through WWE’s first Brand Split, particularly with a lengthy 280-day reign starting in December 2002.

Hunter would continue to feature in WWE’s upper reaches over the years that followed, but he was slowly being phased out as a title contender by 2009. Transitioning into an authority figure role, it looked like Triple H’s days as champion were numbered until he inexplicably won the 2016 Royal Rumble to secure what will likely be his last ever world title reign.
