10 Wrestlers Without Direction For WWE SummerSlam 2017

2. Chad Gable

Though his ex American Alpha partner Jason Jordan doesn't currently have an actual opponent for SummerSlam, it's unfair to suggest he has no direction for the show after stumbling head first into one of the company's biggest storylines of the year.

As Kurt Angle's 'son', Jordan now basks under a brighter spotlight than ever before, and though he already looks to be getting burned by the light, it's unlikely that WWE will let the Angle angle fade into obscurity after such an enormous build.

Chad Gable was the unlucky star caught in the crossfire of the decision. Keen observers of his quick trip through NXT will remember that it was his personality and winning charm that finally offered Jordan an escape route from a multitude of false starts.

Left abandoned by the man he saved, Gable has yet to bounce upwards from the choice singles matches he had with AJ Styles and Rusev ahead of the Kurt/Jason reveal, and might even find himself in a shallow pool of hot water for his complicity in Daniel Bryan and Renee Young's caustic 'Smacking Talk' one-off a fortnight ago.

Here's hoping SummerSlam 2017 will be the last of many pay-per-views this year that he ends up sitting out.
