10 Wrestlers WWE Are Currently Dropping The Ball With

8. Kalisto

One of the best high-fliers currently under WWE employ, Kalisto’s stint on the main roster has been bitterly disappointing. His Lucha Dragons pairing makes sense on paper (and the team achieved considerable success in NXT), but he and Sin Cara accomplished very little on the main roster, and have never looked close to touching the WWE Tag Team Championships.

You can argue that this is Sin Cara’s natural place on the roster, but it certainly isn’t Kalisto’s. The pint-sized luchador is too young and too talented to be written-off as an also-ran, and when Cara was injured and WWE moved Kalisto into singles action, it looked like they were finally pulling the trigger on him.

Kalisto defeated Alberto Del Rio for the United States Championship, then lost it three days later on SmackDown. He’d regain the Championship and mount a number of successful defences, but as has become so common with WWE’s midcard titles, Kalisto’s drifted towards irrelevance, as highlighted by his WrestleMania 32 defence against Ryback featuring on the pre-show rather than the PPV proper.

Now free of his Lucha Dragons affiliation, Kalisto will head to SmackDown as part of the Brand Split, away from the revitalised Cruiserweight Division that he’d be an absolutely perfect fit for. All-in-all, it’s another misuse of one of the company’s most energetic and exciting in-ring performers.
