3. Yokozuna (vs Hulk Hogan) And Bret Hart, WrestleMania IX
Hulk Hogan swooping in after Bret Hart had lost the WWE Championship to Yokozuna, only to defeat the big man for the title himself was a disastrous decision that showed the promotion's inability to move forward with new stars.
WrestleMania IX was a big miss from the company in general, with a severe lack of star power that had been in the previous eight iterations of the event. However, WWE at least decided to promote two of its emerging talents in the main event with Bret 'The Hitman' Hart defending his WWE Championship against the colossal Yokozuna.
The match was certainly not anything to celebrate with the limitations that the challenger presented, but it could have been categorized as a passable effort, or at worst a noble failure.
Enter Hulk Hogan, who was 'concerned' about his 'friend' Bret Hart after he was cheated out of the tile via Mr. Fuji's interference, leading to an impromptu challenge from the new champion to 'The Hulkster.' Of course, Hogan won and WWE had never felt more out of ideas, capping off an overall dreadful event.
