Lord only knows what comes next for Bray Wyatt.

He burned though a lot of ideas during his first WWE sprint, but things ended on a low note for him and his offshoot 'Fiend' character before being released in July 2021. Wyatt stayed rather quiet after that, and didn't pop up in AEW as expected. Instead, he'd bide his time and return in October 2022.

Pretty much everyone agreed that his timing was excellent. Vince McMahon had retired (which didn't last), and Triple H was calling WWE's creative shots. Surely he'd let Bray soar by encouraging his creativity? Well, eh...yes and no would be the answer to that.

By January 2023, Wyatt was introducing a neon version of his 'Fiend' persona, and it honestly seemed like a giant misstep. Rather than continuing to explore the fragility of his relationship with fans and pro wrestling, WWE painted the broadest strokes over everything and got hammy all over again.

Can Bray's character survive that? It remains to be seen.
