10 Wrestlers WWE Gave Up On In 2022
6. Dolph Ziggler
2022 started off rather swell for ol' Ziggles, didn't it? Surprisingly so, in fact.
After spending much of the last few years as one half of the just fine Dirty Dawgs unit alongside Robert Roode, Dolph Ziggler was suddenly thrust back into singles prominence thanks to an unexpectedly successful stint down in NXT; a run that saw the former World Heavyweight Champion pick up his first NXT Championship.
That brief swerve spell aside, though, Ziggler would soon reclaimed his stale spot in the main roster mid-card, only this time as a face for the first time since 2017. And what was the pay-off for the former Mr. Money in the Bank getting under the skin of the most recent pain in the ass holder of said briefcase on Raw? Theory beating Ziggler clean as a whistle to the sound of crickets.
And in simply the latest reminder of the veteran's brief 2022 moment in the singles sun being just that, a returning Baron Corbin and JBL made an example out of the Show-Off on a recent edition of Raw, too.
Also, after 15 years of service and that NXT title win, is there really anything left for Ziggler to achieve on the singles stage? Judging from his more recent usage, WWE clearly don't think so.
