10 Wrestlers WWE Made You Hate (Thanks To Awful Booking)

1. John Cena

John Cena was WWE's franchise player for over a decade. Inheriting the mantle in the mid-2000s, he was presented as the company's centrepiece through an unrelenting, Hulk Hogan-esque push that gradually turned WWE's core audience against him. No matter who John faced, it felt like the company's only priority was making him look strong, and thus, 'Super Cena' was born.

'The Face That Runs The Place' became a first class burial merchant during this time. Bray Wyatt, The Nexus, Umaga, Zack Ryder: the list of wrestlers crushed under his wheels is almost endless, and Cena's propensity for derailing burgeoning careers remains one of the biggest factors contributing towards his enduring negativity.

Transitioning into a part-time role and Roman Reigns' rise has helped take some of the heat off Cena, but his diehard haters will never let their disdain subside. He has proven his worth as a legitimate draw and a top tier big match performer countless times, but some fans can't look beyond his obnoxious push, and it looks like he'll go down as a casualty of the way he's been presented by the company. That's not entirely fair, but the complaints are at least understandable.
