10 Wrestlers WWE Must Sign After WrestleMania 33
1. CM Punk
Of all the wrestlers on this list, CM Punk’s WWE return is probably the least likely. The former WWE Champion has burned almost every bridge imaginable since leaving the company, and isn’t shy on ripping into Triple H, Vince McMahon, and WWE as a whole. This might make him a persona non grata for now, but money talks for WWE, and Punk’s return would create a huge buzz around the company.
Both parties would have to swallow some pride to make the return possible, but it’s the absolute biggest surprise WWE could pull-off in 2017. Punk’s name is still sung by disenfranchised fans on WWE television every now and then, and while his post-release comments have made him one of wrestling’s most divisive personalities, he’s somebody everyone will tune-in to see.
Punk’s supporters want to see him succeed, and his haters want to see him get beaten-up. His return would split opinion right down the middle, but WWE need talking points, buzz, and intrigue at the moment. Punk’s return would bring just that, and he’d be an electric presence among an increasingly sanitised main event scene.
Messing around in the UFC is only damaging his reputation, and while Punk has talked about wanting a second fight with the company, his first was a complete disaster. It’d take a whole lot of red tape, and a big U-turn from Punk in particular, but if WWE want to make the most of 2017, reaching-out to Punk should be on their agenda.
