10 Wrestlers WWE Must Sign After WrestleMania 33
2. Matt & Jeff Hardy
Who’d have thought that Matt and Jeff Hardy would be among the world’s most talked-about wrestlers in 2017? The duo’s Broken Brilliance has completed one of the most unlikely career reinventions in wrestling history, and they currently stand among the sport’s biggest stars. Now, it looks like their TNA run is about to be deleted (sorry…).
The Hardys’ contracts both expire this week, and there’s been no word on either man renewing. While it was initially suggested that Matt & Jeff would stay with Impact Wrestling to maintain creative control, the latest speculation suggests that they’re heading back to WWE.
Both sides would benefit from such a move. For WWE, it’s an opportunity to bring one of wrestling’s hottest acts onto Raw or SmackDown, and bolster their ailing tag divisions. For the Hardys, it’s the opportunity to take their oddball act to a new level of exposure, and return to the company that made them famous in the first place.
The aforementioned creative control might be a stumbling block, and if the Hardys do come back, it’ll be on their terms. WWE would be wise not to tinker with the gimmick, and leave Matt & Jeff to their own devices. They’re the only ones who know how to make this outlandish gimmick work, and they can’t afford to be hindered by bumbling WWE Creative types.
