10 Wrestlers WWE Must Sign Before 2017 Ends

6. Adam Cole

Why Adam Cole hasn’t already appeared in NXT is a mystery. It seemed a given that the brand would continue with their gimmick of “hot indy star sits in the crowd in a suit” thing they had going at the most recent Takeover. Maybe they want to make a bigger splash with him?

Cole has left Ring of Honor and is currently working the independent scene at the moment. At any point, WWE could make him a deal and bring him into the fold. It would be a solid decision on their part. Bobby Roode has done an admirable job of being the focal point of NXT but it’s time to move on. For starters, Roode deserves a main roster run. He also isn’t an exciting up-and-comer anymore. Focusing on an act who represents what the future of the business will look soon like is when NXT is at its best. Cole has the potential to be that guy.

On the third brand, they could push Cole as the top heel and have him feud with Drew Galloway, Kassius Ohno and Aleister Black in highly entertaining main event matches. Sure, he's already good enough to join Raw or SmackDown right now but Vince McMahon is usually adamant about newcomers learning the “WWE system.” That shouldn't be too much of a problem to have Cole stop by for a bit and help carry the developmental brand. And at 27-years-old, he has plenty of time left to develop into a major player in the industry.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
